HPA Director, Brad Garnaat

Brad Garnaat, director of Homeschool Performing Arts, is a former homeschooler and a graduate of the teacher education program at Cornerstone College.

Brad has been very involved in music and drama for most of his life, performing in many shows and choirs in high school and college. Recent community theatre appearances include  Master Arts Theatre's productions of "Pirates of Penzance"  and "Tom Sawyer."  Prior to that he directed the Caledonia Community Players' production of  "Jack and the Beanstalk" and played the role of Perchik in CCP's "The Fiddler On the Roof."

1997 was the debut for Homeschool Performing Arts, and God has certainly blessed us!  We began with a few students in drama classes and HPA has since grown to include:

  • Drama Classes in Fall & Spring
  • Performing Arts Camp in the summer
  • Choir during the school year
  • Private Music Lessons - voice, guitar & beginning piano
  • Drama and Musical Productions in both Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo

The focus of HPA classes and shows is on developing a quality performance, glorifying to God and with aesthetic value. The goal is to help individuals develop as actors and people, through instruction and personal experience. The drama experience will be more than just producing a play; it could be better described as “stage performance development."
