WHY STUDY HEBREW??? If you want to know the Bible better, study Hebrew, the language Jesus spoke and read, the foundation of the New Testament, the language of the Jewish people for literally thousands of years. The source of Modern Hebrew spoken today in Israel: the only ancient language to have been revived as a modern spoken language1

BEGINNING HEBREW, 24 week course
Tuesdays, 1-3 pm, Sept. 7, 2010 – Nov. 23, 2010 AND Jan. 4- Mar. 22, 2011
OR
Mondays, 11 am- 1 pm, Sept. 13 – Nov. 29, 2010 AND Jan. 3 – Mar. 21, 2011

Fall: Hebrew Mechanics: learn to read and write Hebrew letters, vowel markings
Spring: Hebrew Reading: learn books of Bible in Hebrew, 10 Commandments

* Beginning Hebrew: no prerequisite. Book included in cost of class.
* Most homework done in class for immediate feedback.
* Recommend daily 15 minute review with flashcards.

ADVANCED HEBREW: 24 week course
Wednesdays 1 pm – 3 pm, Sept. 8, 2010 – Dec. 1 AND Jan. 5 – Mar 23, 2011
(no class day before Thanksgiving)

Fall: Vocabulary: nouns, verbs, constructs, sentences, extensive reading, writing and speaking Hebrew
Spring: weekly oral reviews, writing practice, using adjectives, pronouns, and guided reading in Ruth.

* Must have taken my Beginning Hebrew class last year, or know letters, vowels, and Shephardic pronunciation.
* Writing done in cursive Hebrew.
* Book included in cost of class.
* Most homework done in class for immediate feedback.
* Some homework done outside class. Estimate 1 hour per day.

COST: Beginning and Advanced class is only $250 for the year. May pay by semester. ($125 x 2) Additional $30 deposit due by August 15 to reserve place in class and cover book order.

* Class sizes limited to 12 students.

* Class location: Sparta, MI

NEW! -- MODERN CONVERSATIONAL HEBREW: 8 week Spring course
Wednesdays, 1 pm – 3 pm, April 13 – June 1
* Must have taken Beginning Hebrew.
* Covers numbers, days, seasons, colors, & greetings through games and role play.
* No book required. May watch Hebrew movie last class.
* $100 for class. Limit 12 students.
